Johnstone’s Trade Flexible Undercoat is a durable, weather-resistant basecoat designed to work with Johnstone’s Flexible Gloss and Flexible Satin systems. Its flexible, breathable formulation helps resist cracking, flaking, and blistering by moving with the natural expansion and contraction of exterior timber.
It provides excellent coverage and opacity, helping to mask surface imperfections and create a smooth, even base. Ideal for use on previously painted or bare wood (when primed), Flexible Undercoat boosts the durability and aesthetic finish of your topcoat.

Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and sound. Sand and key previously painted areas. Prime bare timber with a suitable primer. Stir thoroughly and apply 1–2 coats of Flexible Undercoat before finishing with Flexible Gloss or Satin.
